Technology Touted as Accounting 'Lingua Franca'

Daniel Sorid writes for Reuters that "New technology that standardizes how companies present their financial reports could make life much easier for investors, regulators and others who review financial data. But the technology, known as XBRL, has been slow to catch on among traders and stock analysts, and only one big Wall Street firm, Morgan Stanley, is an avid backer. A SEC pilot program has gotten off to a very slow start."
