House Elevates Cyber Czar Position
Gregg Keizer writes for TechWeb News: The House late Wednesday passed a $34 billion budget for the Department of Homeland Security that among its provisions, would elevate the nation's head cybersecurity official to Assistant Secretary status, a move that's been urged by security industry leaders for almost a year.
By a vote of 424 to 4, the House passed H.R. 1817, the "Department of Homeland Security Authorization Act," a $34.2 billion budget for Homeland Security in 2006.
Among the bill's provisions is one that would elevate the head of the National Cyber Security Davison (NCSD) to Assistant Secretary level.
