BT launches new phone service

Dinah Greek writes in Computeract!ve:

BT is launching a telephone service that lets users switch between landline and mobile networks using a single phone.

The BT Fusion service which uses broadband, is the first to allow people to access both types of call from the same handset and receive just one bill.

When at home, customers use the phone to make calls over the broadband network using a specially installed hub and Bluetooth wireless technology so the phone acts as a landline while near the base. When out and about however, the call switches to the Vodafone mobile network so it is able to act as a mobile phone.
