EU executive takes action on mobile phone charges

A Reuters newswire article, via Yahoo! News, reports that:

Phone companies charge consumers too much for using their mobile phones while abroad, the European Commission said on Monday, promising to take action to ensure there was full competition in the market.

The Commission has been investigating the price of wholesale roaming charges in Germany and Britain between 1997 and 2003 amid accusations that mobile phone operators are ripping off customers who make mobile calls while abroad.
