Taiwan-China talks held on standards, says report

Peter Clarke writes in the EE Times:

Companies from Taiwan and mainland China started a two-day conference in Beijing Monday (July 4) to discuss the creation of joint technology standards for digital televisions, mobile phones, flat-panel display testing and memory cards, according to a Bloomberg report carried by The Standard of Hong Kong.

Taiwan's delegation, including more than 40 executives, was due to be led by Kuomintang vice chairman Chiang Pin-kung and Hsu Sheng-hsiung, chairman of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association, the report said citing the Sinocon Industrial Standards Foundation, as its source. Chiang is chairman of the foundation and Hsu his deputy, the report added.

"The aim is to open a window for dialogue for the cross-strait science and technology industry," the report quoted the Sinocon foundation as saying.
