Army deploys new road-side bomb detection sensors in Iraq

Michael Hardy writes in FCW.com:

The Army has deployed sensor technology from Flight Landata to help soldiers detect roadside bombs before they explode.

Flight Landata's BuckEye combines technologies to generate high-resolution imagery that could make explosive devices easier to detect. The solution includes digital cameras, global positioning system receivers, inertial measurement units and software.

The system is especially well suited for use in unmanned aerial vehicles, according to a company statement.
