Tele2 in venture talks with Germans

A Bloomberg newswire article, via The International Herald Tribune, reports that:

Tele2, the Swedish provider of telephone and broadband Internet services, is holding talks with four German network providers to form a joint venture and plans to complete an agreement this year, according to the Tele2 chief executive, Lars-Johan Jarnheimer.

"We should be able to present a deal before the end of the year," Jarnheimer said on Friday in an interview at Tele2's office in Kista, near Stockholm.

Of the four potential partners, he said, "it's the alternatives with a joint venture that look best at the moment."

The joint venture would be similar to Tele2's agreement with the French company Neuf Telecom, Jarnheimer said. In the second quarter, Tele2 contributed 329 million kronor, or $42.7 million, to Neuf Telecom's network investment in exchange for lower fees to resell capacity on the network to its customers, Jarnheimer said.
