Cisco Systems to invest $1.1 billion in India

An AP newswire article by Ashok Sharma, via The Globe and Mail, reports that:

U.S.-based Cisco Systems Inc. will spend $1.1-billion (U.S.) in India over the next three years in the company's largest investment outside the United States, its CEO said Wednesday.

John Chambers, president and chief executive officer of Cisco Systems, said the investment by the world's largest maker of networking gear showed his confidence in India.

"I am very optimistic about India's future," Chambers told reporters. "This will be the largest investment that Cisco has ever done outside the United States."

The company's revenue has grown by 50 per cent in India in the past two years.
