TeliaSonera Takes Action vs. Alfa Group
An AP newswire article, via Yahoo! News, reports that:
TeliaSonera AB, the Nordic region's largest telecommunications company, said Monday it is suing Russian rival Alfa Group in an ongoing battle over control of the Turkish mobile-phone company Turkcell.
The company also announced legal action over a bank transfer of $135 million from Turkcell.
TeliaSonera claims Alfa Group's June 22 purchase of Turkcell shares was improper and a violation of its own contract with Turkish shareholder Cukurova Group. TeliaSonera and Cukurova own 51 percent of Turkcell through a holding company.
