Kazaa Defense Cites 1920s Case

A 1920s music-hall concert and a rock band in a Sydney pub featured prominently in the first day of a week-long battle between file-sharing network Kazaa and the music industry, with both sides fighting last September's Federal Court ruling against the peer-to-peer company.

The full bench of the Federal Court has begun hearing an appeal by Sharman Networks, the owner of Kazaa, against Justice Wilcox's ruling that it had to install piracy filters on the network.

The record labels are appealing over several points on which the court ruled against them.
