New Satellites for Spanish Military & European Telecom

An AFP newsbrief, via PhysOrg.com, reports that:

Two telecommunications satellites are set to be launched on February 21 by the European Space Agency from a base in French Guiana, the satellite launching company Arianespace revealed.

The 10-tonne Ariane 5 ECA launcher will put into orbit Spainsat, the first satellite devoted to secure communications for the Spanish government, and Hot Bird 7a, a television and radio broadcasting satellite of the operator Eutelsat.

The window for the launch is between 2213GMT and 2333 GMT at a space centre in Kourou, French Guiana. It is the first launch of the year by Ariane 5.
