Office 2003/XP Add-in: Remove Hidden Data

With all of the news lately about security flubs lately were hidden META data was inadvertently left in sensitive documents, this sounds like a handy little tool.

Paul Rowlingson writes on ComputerAct!ve:

This free add-in for Microsoft Office provides you with the ability to permanently remove hidden and collaboration data from Office documents.

Hidden and collaboration data is basically metadata that gets stored with the Office document, and includes such elements as author document titles, keywords, print and save dates, and the names of everybody that has reviewed and saved a document.

It can also include such information as your company's name and address, where the document is stored, and comments added. A full list of the types of information that the add-in will remove is included in the download, and it's amazing how much hidden data there is.
