Telenor Offers to Sell to Alfa



A New York Times article by Andrew E. Kramer, via The International Herald Tribune, reports that:

Telenor, the Norwegian mobile phone operator, offered Monday to sell its Ukrainian telecommunications business to a Russian company for $5 billion in cash.

The deal was the latest move in an intricate commercial duel between Telenor and Alfa, a Russian holding company. The two began as partners and are now fighting for control of companies they jointly invested in.
