Austin Uses Record Amount of Energy

Via News8Austin.

There’s a new record for electricity use in Austin.

On Tuesday, Austin Energy set a new all-time peak demand record for May. Demand between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. peaked at more than 2,080 MW.

The previous May record of 2,036 MW was set in May 2003.

An all-time peak record means that during that hour demand for electricity in Austin reached a level higher than ever recorded on any previous day in any May in the history of Austin Energy.
