Former DHS Spokesman Faces Sex Charges Hearing

Via CNN.

A former Department of Homeland Security spokesman will appear Thursday in a Florida courtroom to face charges of soliciting a minor via the Internet.

Brian J. Doyle, 56, waived extradition in Maryland and arrived Wednesday at the Polk County Jail in Bartow, Florida.

His attorney, Barry Helfand, said he will seek to have his client released on bail so he can return to Maryland and be examined by two psychiatrists who specialize in sexual dysfunctions.

The ex-Department of Homeland Security official is charged with seven counts of use of a computer to seduce a child and 16 counts of transmission of harmful material to a minor, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
