SafeNet Wins NSA Encryption Bid

SafeNet Inc. has won approval from the National Security Agency to build a version of an encryption device it has developed that will be used by U.S. government intelligence communities sending and receiving classified information.

The Belcamp-based information security company said Monday it will develop the encryptor with its subsidiary, Mykotronx Inc. The work means SafeNet will work closely with NSA engineers to design what the government calls a "Type 1" product, which contains NSA algorithms and is used to protect sensitive government communications.
