The deputy head of the National Counter-Terrorism Center has been picked to lead the 101st Airborne Division and will depart at the end of the summer.

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey J. Schloesser, currently deputy director for strategic operational planning at the center, was named last week as the next commander of the 101st by the U.S. Army.

The National Counter-Terrorism Center's director, Vice Adm. Scott Redd (Ret.) said in an e-mail to staff there Friday that Schloesser "likely will be with us until the end of the summer before he enters the pipeline to assume" his new responsibilities. "I anticipate his successor will be announced in the near future," added Redd.
