Lucent Wins U.S. Army Communications Contract

Lucent Technologies won a contract to modernize the U.S. Army's communications infrastructure.

The five-year deal will require Lucent, along with nine other prime contractors, to engineer, install, secure and test next-generation networks at several Army bases worldwide for a total cost of $4 billion. There is a possibility for the contract to be extended another five years, based on performance.
