Russian Firm Takes Majority Stake in Greek Telco

A unit of Russia's AFK Sistema has acquired a 51-percent stake in Greek telco Intracom Telecom.

Sistema Chairman Vladimir Yevtushenkov told a news conference in Athens Wednesday that the $150 million deal involving its Sitronics subsidiary would help fund expansion plans that would put Intracom on a level with European telecom majors such as Alcatel and Siemens.
