California: Governor Signs Hands-Free Cell Phone Bill

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill Friday that will force drivers to use a hands-free device when driving and talking on a cell phone.More here.
The bill, introduced by state Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, would prohibit the use of cell phones in a moving vehicle unless the driver is using a hands-free device.
Simitian told NBC11 News that cell phones are the No. 1 cause of distracted-driving accidents in California.
The bill will go into effect July 1, 2008.

There's also a new law that was signed by the Governator last week
called SB33. This law bans the use of any wireless device (including a hands-free device) by drivers under the age of 18. This law goes into effect the same day as SB1613, July 1st, 2008. If your interested in reading more about the law check it out at
