Northrop Grumman Team Bids on Livermore Lab Pact

A team led by Northrop Grumman has submitted a bid to become the new managers of the U.S. nuclear weapons lab in Livermore, Calif.

Advanced Science and Engineering Technologies, LLC (ASET) is challenging the incumbent management team that includes Bechtel and the University of California system.

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory near San Francisco is charged with maintaining the reliability of the U.S. nuclear weapons, but is also involved in basic scientific research involving physics as well as the development of cutting-edge technology involving energy and homeland security. The UC system has managed the lab for more than 50 years.
