Canada: Details Emerge About RCMP Cold War Concentration Camps

In the suspicious minds of the Mounties, seemingly ordinary men and women who could have been your neighbours were branded as subversives, treated as threats to national security and destined, in the event of a Third World War, to be locked up in Manitoba's jails before being shipped off to more permanent internment camps readied across the country.

Declassified files uncovered by Winnipeg-born historian John Clearwater shed light on this murky chapter in our history, when hundreds of Manitobans were targeted as part of an extensive plan to round up as many as 2,500 Canadians under the country's top-secret war plans.
