Nortel Signs $2B Supply Deal With Verizon

A Reuters newswire article, via The Boston Globe, reports that:

Canadian telecom equipment giant Nortel Networks Corp. has signed a $2-billion (C$2.32 billion) supply deal with Verizon Wireless to help the carrier cope with an explosion in demand for broadband Internet access.

The five-year agreement is aimed at expanding the quality and reach of Verizon's network in the United States, as users clamor for online video, games and music, the companies said.
