VCU Grad Sentenced for Fraud, Identity Theft
Tom Campbell writes in The Richmond Times-Dispatch:
The graduate who stole personal information on hundreds of Virginia Commonwealth University students was sentenced yesterday to four years in federal prison.More here.
George Nkansah Owusu, 27, admitted in September that starting in 2005, he hacked into several VCU student-access computers and obtained logins, passwords, account numbers and other information on students and faculty members. He pleaded guilty to charges of computer fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Owusu has admitted that he surreptitiously installed a "keylogger" program on computers in the VCU library and several science labs. The program recorded every keystroke made on those computers. Owusu periodically e-mailed the data to himself.
