Canada: Concern Runs High Over Internet Security

Canadian business leaders are so concerned about the potential for online security breaches they believe organizations should be required to assume increased legal liability for the personal information they store, according to a new poll.

Chief executives are deeply concerned about the threat of hacking, both as consumers and business leaders, according to an Internet-based survey conducted by COMPAS Inc. for the Financial Post. The mean answer on a scale of 1 to 7 assessing their personal concern over hacking came in at 5.4, where 7 was a serious concern. The mean answer as a business leader was 5.8.
