New DoD Intelligence Chief May End TALON Database

The man nominated to be the pentagon's intelligence chief will consider terminating a controversial military database that tracks suspicious activity.

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. James Clapper, nominated to be undersecretary of defense for intelligence, told the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday the TALON database -- a compilation of reports of possible threats to military bases and alleged terrorist activities -- may not produce enough benefit to merit the controversy it has engendered.
