XM Experiences Significant Outage

Via BetaNews.

XM is suffering scattered outages across North America, several news sources reported on Monday. According to subscribers, the outages have affected many subscribers in the eastern half of the continent, although scattered reports have been received elsewhere. The company is staying mum on exactly what caused the outage -- a request for comment by BetaNews was not answered as of press time -- although it is being reported that a "software upgrade" has taken out XM's terrestrial repeaters and at least one satellite.

It is not known which satellites were affected, but some XM enthusiast sites are claiming it may be one of the company's newer satellites. Time frames on a fix have ranged from as little as two hours to two days. No further details are available at this point.
