Off Beat: Microsoft Hires Former Miss Austrlia to 'Sex Up' IT Industry
Via Stuff.co.nz.
Microsoft is hiring a former Miss Australia to encourage young people to get involved in the computer industry.More here.
Enrolments in IT courses plummetted worldwide following the crash of dot com bubble in 2001, and in New Zealand are still 30 per cent lower than they were in 2003, despite a booming local industry.
Microsoft and the Australian IT industry association hope Erin McNaught can turn this around in Australia by convincing teenagers IT careers were "chic", media reported.

This story is about 10% true. Not a bad effort from this author.
The story was started by Greg Stolz - a wanna be headliner in Brisbane who simply doesn't do his homework.
For a start, Microsoft did NOT hire Erin McNaught. They sponsored a show that she was hosting (NOT KEYNOTING) for the Australian Information Industry and the Queensland government.
The messages at the event were excellent, and she was a fantastic host. It wasn't "SEXY". It was professional. The students I brought along loved the event.. because it was FIRST CLASS.
There is no "Microsoft" campaign featuring Erin McNaught.
Who hires these 'journalists' (term used loosely), and do they get rapped over the hands when they get it totally wrong like this?
