U.S. Toll in Iraq

As of Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at least 3,850 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes eight military civilians. At least 3,136 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.

The AP count is five higher than the Defense Department's tally, last updated Monday at 10 a.m. EDT.

Sad news. You might be interested in the Wounded Warriors Project. It's a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness for U.S. troops severely wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. It really puts a face on the cost of this conflict. Here's a link:
