The precise moment of the 2008 solstice will be December 21, 2008 at 7:04 AM EST and 12:04 UT (Universal Time).Today is the beginning of Yule, the winter solstice celebration of the Germanic pagans still celebrated by some new (old?) age movements around the world. It is also one of the eight solar holidays, or sabbats, of Paganism.
