'Geek Squad' Cars To Change Colors After Cops Complain

An AP newswire article, via Security Pipeline, reports that:

Geeks used to be picked on for their pocket protectors and love for advanced trigonometry. Now they're catching the interest of the California Highway Patrol.

The Geek Squad agreed this week to change the color scheme of their "Geekmobiles" because they look too much like police cars.

Minnesota-based Best Buy owns the Geek Squad, a nerdy team of repairmen who do housecalls to fix computers and electronics. The CHP says drivers could have mistaken their black and white cars for the police.

The Geek Squad says they'll repaint their 150 Volkswagen Beetles so California motorists won't be surprised when they're offered a memory upgrade instead of a speeding ticket. The doors on the "Geekmobiles" will now be painted black instead of white.
