Tuesday tests have proved that 200 dead swans found in the Volga estuary in the Astrakhan region died of H5 bird flu, Russia’s Agriculture Ministry said, citing the Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control Service.

Astrakhan authorities have launched measures to prevent poultry contracting the virus, Interfax reported.
