Russia Changes Telephone Codes for Moscow, 18 Other Regions
The Moscow city telephone area code, 095, is to be changed to 495 on Thursday, the IT and Telecommunications Ministry said in a ruling approved in early August.
The ruling also stipulates that the telephone area codes of 18 other Russian regions, which start with a zero, including Voronezh, Tver, Kursk, Yaroslavl, and the Moscow region will replace the zero with a four, Tass reported Wednesday.
However, both the new and old dialling codes will be valid in the period from Dec. 1 to Jan. 31, 2006.
