U.S. Lawmakers want VoIP users to pay into USF

Roy Mark writes in internetnews.com:

Two lawmakers want the Universal Service Fund (USF) to help finance broadband deployment in rural and underserved areas.

According to draft bill sponsors Rick Boucher (D-Va.) and Lee Terry (R-Neb.), the Universal Service Reform Act of 2005 to be introduced Tuesday will "broaden the base of contributions into the fund, control distributions from the fund and allow use of universal service support for broadband deployment."
