Katrina is Most 'Talked-About' Story of 2005

A Reuters newswire article, via CNN, reports that:

Hurricane Katrina and the spike in gas and oil prices were the most talked-about news stories in the United States in 2005, edging out the war in Iraq and the Asian tsunami, a survey showed on Monday.

According to the poll of 1,500 people commissioned by data and information company LexisNexis, 97 percent of Americans considered the August hurricane that devastated New Orleans the most talked about event at their home or office during 2005, followed by the gas hikes, the Iraqi war and the tsunami.

The London bombings in July took fifth slot, just ahead of the U.S. Supreme Court nominations.
