Pentagon to Scale Back $34B Radio System

An AP/Dow Jones article, via The Mercury News, reports that:

The Pentagon is on course to scale back a troubled $34 billion communications program and trim its scope, defense officials told Dow Jones Newswires.

The Joint Tactical Radio System, a massive effort to update and link Army, Navy and Air Force communications, has faced significant technical difficulties since its inception. It has been under review since February; insiders say a restructuring decision is now imminent.
