Clearwire Casts $1B into WiMAX

Phone companies have DSL. Cable companies sell broadband. And satellite companies … well, Clearwire may have an idea.

With about $1 billion in funds to build its own WiMAX network—offering wireless broadband service over wide areas—the Kirkland, Washington-based company is anxious to acquire spectrum and build new markets, Chief Strategy Officer Ben Wolff told RedHerring.com.
