In a little-noticed decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled last week that when one tenant objects to police searching a house, and the other tenant consents, the police must nonetheless get a warrant. This result suggests that rumors of the Fourth Amendment's demise have been exaggerated.More here.
Equally important, an analysis of the case offers hope that we may have a similar constitutional right to privacy in our electronic data -- at a time when the government is more determined than ever to have access to it without a warrant.
