Sprint Exec: Lucent-Alcatel Deal Good for Carriers

A Reuters newswire article, via eWeek, reports that:

A merger between network equipment makers Alcatel and Lucent could be good for their telecom carrier clients if it puts the combined company in better financial shape, a Sprint Nextel Corp. executive said on Tuesday.

"If it provides added scale and makes them stronger financially, then that's better for us," Len Lauer, Sprint's chief operating officer, said in an interview.
