Austin Hosts Global Tech Conference

An AP newswire article by Matt Slagle, via USA Today, reports that:

A mix of politicians, business leaders and tech luminaries will gather here this week to discuss some of the thorniest issues facing today's increasingly digital world, such as technology's impact on health care and how to ensure equal access to high-tech tools.

About 2,000 business, government and academic leaders from 80 countries are expected to attend the 15th World Congress on Information Technology in Austin.

Instead of showing off the latest high-tech gadgets, the gathering will focus on creating a dialogue on three technology-related topics: privacy and security, health care and access to the digital economy, said Glyn Meek, president of the non-profit World Congress on Information Technology 2006 Inc., headquartered in Austin.
