Protests Shaping Up Over U.S. Security Clearance Moratorium

The IT industry is lining up to protest the Defense Department’s decision to stop processing security clearances for contractors.

The Defense Security Service announced Friday that it had decided to halt the contractor clearances because of a lack of resources and the high volume of priority applications.

House Government Reform Committee chairman Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) called the decision “both baffling and disturbing.” He is asking the DSS for more information to explain its decision.
