Retrial of Ex-Enron Internet Executives Begins

Matt Daily writes for Reuters:

Prosecutors launched the retrial of two former executives from Enron's Internet unit on Wednesday, arguing the men helped construct a bogus deal to hide the poor financial performance of the business.

The trial of the two former finance executives, Kevin Howard and Michael Krautz, is taking place in the federal courtroom next to the one where former Enron Corp. Chief Executives Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling are on trial for conspiracy and fraud.

Howard and Krautz were originally tried last year alongside three other executives from the Internet business, Enron Broadband Services, but that case ended in a mistrial after the jury deadlocked on the charges against them.
