European Trademarks vs. Google

Doreen Carvajal writes in The International Herald Tribune:

The signature beige-on-chestnut monogram of Louis Vuitton leather goods was designed by its makers in the late 1800s to prevent counterfeiting.

Now more than 150 years old, the luxury leather maker is leading European companies in challenges to Google in a growing number of lawsuits that seek to remove online ads for competitors or counterfeiters that pop up when their brand names are typed into Google's search box.
