A San Diego computer security expert who admitted to hacking into USC's application system after the school rejected him for admission is scheduled to be sentenced today.

Eric McCarty pleaded guilty in September to a felony count of accessing a protected computer without authorization.

The 24-year-old is expected to receive six months of home detention.

Prosecutors say McCarty accessed Social Security numbers, names, addresses, dates of birth and applicants' passwords to the USC site in June 2005.
