Yet Another Maryland Hospital Loses Patients Information

An AP newswire article, via Delaware Online, reports that:

For the second time in a week, a Maryland hospital has reported losing computerized data on more than 100,000 people.

St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown last week notified as many as 130,000 patients that a laptop computer with personal information was stolen from the hospital in December.

The computer, which was used to register patients, was last seen Dec. 5 in the emergency care center. It held the names, Social Security numbers and birth dates of patients who had been treated as far back as 1989, according to Christine Wray, the hospital's president and chief executive officer. The data, which was not encrypted, did not include medical or financial information, she said.
