Edition N, Microsoft's unloved child

Paul Meller writes in the International Herald Tribune that:

How do you build demand for a product if the company that makes it wants nothing to do with it?

Like an unwanted baby, Microsoft's new version of the Windows operating system, known as Edition N, faces an uncertain life even before it is born.

Microsoft and the European Commission are within a week or two of putting Edition N on the market in Europe, more than a year after the company was found guilty of monopoly abuse and fined 497.2 million, or $638 million.
