Texas: Lawmakers taking up other bills just in case

Head's up, Texans.

An AP newswire article by Natalie Gott in The Austin American-Statesman alerts us to the fact that:

Gov. Rick Perry called lawmakers back to Austin for a special legislative session to find a public school funding solution, but lawmakers are also finding time to debate other topics, such as pay raises for judges, eminent domain and telecommunications regulations.

Among the other issues mentioned in the article:

Lawmakers also are looking to make changes to telecommunications law. A bill that would have made it easier for the phone companies such as Verizon Communications Inc. and SBC Communications Inc. to offer TV service failed during the regular session.
