UK: Ministry of Defence keeps having notebooks stolen
Tamlin Magee writes in The Inquirer:
According to an egovmonitor.com report, UK central government departments have lost at least 150 computers to thieves in just the last six months.
The biggest offender is the Home Office with 95 recorded incidents of IT items nicked between January and June 05. The Ministry of Defence suffered badly too, although not in comparison - this year there have been 23 computer thefts to date, which is down from 153 last year.
Most incidents are reportedly insider incidents, with half of the cases titled "internal - misuse of resources".
