Groups file joint request for telecom merger conditions

Grant Gross writes in InfoWorld:

A group of telecommunications providers and large businesses have joined together in a coordinated effort to convince the U.S. government that it needs to impose conditions on two proposed telecom mergers.

Six communications companies have joined with the Ad Hoc Telecommunications Users Committee, representing high-volume business customers, to file a request that the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) add conditions to the proposed mergers of Verizon Communication Inc. with MCI Inc. and SBC Communications Inc. with AT&T Corp.

All of the organizations joining together in the FCC request have previously asked for merger conditions.
