Texas: First Arrest Under New Online Predator Statute

Via the Austin TX local NBC-TV affiliate, KXAN.com:

A man from Travis County was arrested after allegedly asking someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl online to meet him for sex.

This is the first arrest of its kind after a new statute was passed allowing prosecutors to go after predators even if the predators never show up for arranged sexual meetings.

After a lengthy investigation, the attorney general's office and the Travis County Sheriff's Department arrested 26-year-old Chris Dotson even though he never showed up for his alleged meeting with the agent posing as a 13-year-old girl.
